Abstract

Cytological investigations from testicular tissues of three species of genus Junonia, namely, J. almana, J. orithyaJ. lemonias, belonging to family Nymphalidae have been carried out during the present study. The haploid chromosome number has been found to be 31. The chromosomes in the mitotic metaphase and metaphase-ll are rod or dot-shaped. The primary constrictions have not been observed even at prometaphase stages where the chromosomes are quite elongated.
