Abstract
This paper presents a statistically significant difference between the free α-amino nitrogen contents in the normal breast tissue, beningn and malignant tumours. Similarly, the total proteins which include acidic and basic proteins have shown a singificant increase in carcinomatous tissue of breast than in the normal subjects. The present study also indicate that the clinical stages of breast carcinoma are linked with a high level of free α-amino nitrogen and protein contents. There is a consistent rise in these compounds in tissue and serum of patients of this disease, α-amino nitrogen and protein contents are significantly (P<0.01) higher in stage II and III in serum samples as well as in malignant tissue, when compared with the controls.
