Abstract
The present study has been carried out on 200 women with pregnancy from 4 to 20 weeks of gestation. Out of these, 150 got their pregnancy terminated themselves on family planning or health grounds and in 50 women, the abortion was spontaneous. These women were typed for ABO blood group, alongwith a detailed past obstetric history was also recorded for observing the role of these factors on their reproductive performance. In both the categories, there is preponderance of blood group B, i.e. 37.33 percent in induced and 38.00 percentin spontaneous abortion categories.
The past obstetric history of women from spontaneous category is showing a greater tendency of foetal loss (63.36 percent) as compared to induced category (39.48 percent). Majority of women aborting spontaneously are with O blood group (90.48 percent), whereas B blood group women appear to be at advantage (67.57 percent).
