Abstract

Migration of chromatin materials was observed between neighbouring sporocytes (PMCs) in Leucas cephalotes Spreng. Of Lamiaceae. Three to six pollen mother cells were seen to be taking part in transmigration of nuclear materials. Cytoplasmic bridges were obvious. Transmigration was unidirectional and found to appear during different stages of microsporogenesis. Practical application of transmigration in plant breeding and crop improvement is highlighted.
