Abstract

Precursor cells of the intestinal functionary are very prone to ionizing radiations. The whole of the intestine is dependent upon these dividing cells of crypts which are restricted to middle portions only. The radiolesions are seen in the form of dead mitotic figures, shortening of villi, chromatolytic, vacuolated and pyknotic cells in the Crypt region, hyperaemia, hydropic degeneration and some lymphocytic infiltration.
