Abstract

The frequency distribution of sickle cell haemoglobin and G-6-PID deficiency among the Madigas, a scheduled caste population of Visakhapatnam city of Andhra Pradesh has been studied.  The gene frequency of Hbs is 0.0175 and the frequency of GdB-gene is 0.0100. These frequencies have also been compared with those of the available neighbouring caste populations from Andhra Pradesh.
