Abstract

The paper deals with some sterile scale leaves and dispersed seeds found in fossiliferous shale of Handappa village, Hinzirda ghati of Dhenkanal district, Orissa, India. The scale leaves from Handappa are Nautiyalolepis lanceolata gen. et sp.nov., Utkaliolepis indica gen. et sp. nov. and Handapiolepis parijaii gen. et sp nov. while two types of seeds referable to two form genera are described under the names Cordaicarpus utkalensis sp. nov. and Samaropsis handapaensissp. nov. The scale leaves and seeds are well preserved but they are in form of impressions. The function of scale leaves are also discussed in detail.
