Abstract

Direct incorporation of leaf litter of Corchorus olitorius (Jute) along with selected fungi : Chaetomium bostrychodes and Trichoderma viride favourably effected the physicochemical characteristics of soil and the growth and productivity of Trigonella foenum-graecum (Methi).  Inoculated trials showed statistically significant increase in biomass of plants over uninoculated ones whereas nitrogen uptake and productivity was not statistically different. Results were fairly comparable to addition of organic manure to soil.
