Abstract
Recently salicylic acid (SA) has emerged as a new planthormone (Raskin, 1992a) and reported to regulate flowering, disease resistance and some physiological processes in plants (Raskin, 1992b). Further, the hormone has been designated to play important role in signal transduction specially in systemic acquired resistance (SAR) in plants Gehlot et al., 1997). However, a little is known about its role on water relation parameters of plants. In the present study, we report the effect of SA on transpiration, leaf conductance and leaf temperature in soybean grown under sub optimal water irrigation.
