Abstract

Ninety eight wheat germplasm lines were evaluated for Germination Stress Index (GSI) under polyethylene glycol induced moisture stress (-5 MPA). The results revealed that 11 germplasm lines were tolerant, while 5 were moderately tolerant and the remaining lines were sensitive to moisture stress. The GSI recorded moderate genotypic and phenotypic coefficient of variation with heritability of 64.52% and genetic gain of 17.39%.
