Abstract

The mutagenic effect of sodium valproate, an antiepileptic agent was investigated by using mouse bone marrow micronucleus test. The drug was administered intraperitoneally to experimental animals at doses of 26.66, 133.0 and 266.6 mg/kg body weight. Bone marrow micronucleus preparations were made at different time intervals. The drug induced statistically significant micronuclei at higher doses.
