Abstract

Polytene chromosomes were examined from trichogen cells and foot pad hypodermal cells of developing pupae, and salivary glands of 3rd instar larvae ofMusca autumnalis. Results indicate that polytene chromosomes from these tissues are unsuitable for detailed investigations. In addition, nurse cell nuclei of adult females exhibited only a reticular chromosome structure.
