Abstract

Protein and prussic acid contents from matured edible parts of seven aquatic  forages of Darbhanga were estimated. Quantity of protein was found to be highest in  Nymphaea  nouchali  followed by Alternantera  sessilis, Phargmites communis, Ipomoea aquatica, Commelina nudiflora and Echinochloa crusgali. It was the lowest in Scirpus articulatus. None of the aquatic forages under study showed any detectable amount of HCN in them.
