Abstract

Field and laboratory experiments were performed on rice to understand the influence of potassium application on rice in the form of KNO3 and KCI.  Both salts were effective in improving the yield attributes like :  number of tillers, total biomass, total grain yield and 1000 seed weight. However, KNO3  had a greater influence on total weight and total grain yield than KCl indicating the importance of accompanying aninon with K+.  Increase in total chlorophylls, hill activity and nitrate reductase activity also resulted with potassium treatment.
