Abstract

A lac host plant, Moghania macrophylla, has been subjected to tissue culture studies and quite interesting results are encountered. The phytohormones cytokinins (KN and BAP) on different concentrations appear to be inducing agent in the initiation of bud formation in this host plant in vitro.  Caseine hydrolysate (CH) in different concentrations, in addition to cytokinin, helps in the development of shoot buds into adventitious branches.  5 ppm concentration of KN is proved to be quite effective  in inducing bud formation.
