In contrast to the prevailing social security systems of the world, Islam own a different social security system. This social security system was practiced in the primary Islamic period. This paper attempts to understand the “social security system of Islam”, in the period of ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab, who inherited 2nd caliphate.
