This study focusses on the reasons for stress, the impact of stress on productivity and the methods for handling the stress. The population of this study includes the employees working in the IT sector. The study is aimed at the assessment of job stress among the IT employees from various firms in Trivandrum. It is found that most of the respondent’s experience stress as they not familiar with the work at home arrangement. The major findings of the study include, stress has a great impact on productivity of the employees, As the level of the stress increases the productivity decreases. Most commonly used methods of handling stress are prioritizing the challenging tasks first, by sharing with colleagues and superiors and with the support of the family. It is also found that gender and stress is related. It is also found that lack of cooperation among the co-workers can cause stress and affects the level of stress.
Since stress has an impact on the productivity of the employees, they need to find out new methods for handling the stress. Some effective methods are discussed in this study. Also, the management can take many actions to reduce the stress of their employees. By handling stress in an effective way, the employees can be more productive and can become an asset of the company as the work from home arrangement has many other advantages.
