Dr. Iyekhoetin Matthew Omoruyi
Dr. Iyekhoetin Matthew Omoruyi is a young, vibrant and dynamic researcher, mentor and lecturer. He obtained his BSc. in Microbiology, with a first class Hons. degree, MSc. in Environmental/Public Health Microbiology, and a PhD in Microbiology and Toxicology from the University of Helsinki, Finland, in 2015. His areas of research include the genotoxicity and endocrine disrupting potential of food and environmental contaminants as well as the molecular epidemiology of infectious diseases.
Dr. Omoruyi is an academic mentor to a number of young researchers in Africa, a reviewer for over 50 notable journals. He has published several articles in scientific journals with high impact factor such as Food Chemistry, International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, Scandinavian Journal of Public Health, Food Additives and Contaminants, Journal of Dietary Supplement amongst others. He is a recipient of several research grants, with research collaborators in Finland, Germany and Pakistan. Dr. Omoruyi is a member of the American Society for Microbiology, Society of Toxicology, Nigeria Society for Microbiology, and the General Secretary of the prestigious Nigerian Young Academy. He is currently a lecturer at the Department of Biological Sciences, Benson Idahosa University, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria.
