Abstract

Frugal innovation has become popular in value and implementation of frugal innovations throughout the globe and has shown the benefits it offers to underserved customers in both developing and developed countries. The purpose of this research is to explore different applications of frugal innovations (FIs) throughout the world. Variety of cases were discussed, and this includes frugal products and services as well as frugal business models. These frugal innovations are practically in use and been used by a large volume of low-income consumers. The paper also provides an insight into the cases with a discussion. The major research approach used was a review of the literature, with an emphasis on examples and practices from a worldwide setting. The report explores a wide range of circumstances and scenarios that might act as a roadmap for more research. As the long investigations come to a conclusion, the authors discuss possible avenues for further research.

Keywords: Frugal innovation, frugal products, frugal business models, case study
