Abstract

Two samples of Ag2CrO4 nanoparticles were synthesized by one step ultrasound-assisted method without requiring elevated temperature calcination process. The samples were characterized using XRD, SEM, TEM, FT-IR and UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The XRD results show that Ag2CrO4 is orthorhombic Ag2CrO4 phase and its morphology is nanoparticle. 1.45 eV and 1.95 eV are the optical band gap values for sample-A and sample-B respectively. In addition, a mechanism of Ag2CrO4 nanocrystals formation was also proposed according to the experimental results.

Keywords: Ag2CrO4 spinel, ultrasonic synthesis, photocatalyst, photoluminescence and mechanism
